Teaching Artist Review

About the Artist

The Fourth Wall Ensemble -- comprised of Hilary Abigana, Greg Jukes, and C. Neil Parsons -- is a hybrid arts group that combines music, dance, and theatre. Based in Boston and with an educational background that includes Rice University, the Oberlin Conservatory, and the Peabody Institute at Johns Hopkins University, members of The Fourth Wall have performed at the National Flute Association's annual convention and have been Ensemble-in-Residence and Guest Artists at the University of Alaska-Fairbanks and many other schools and universities around the country. Describing what they do in the classroom can be challenging since it involves so many different elements, but the members sum it up this way: "We're musicians who dance and act while we play, as if the dance company or actors are providing their own music." Their goal is to help kids see the world in a new way while imparting leadership skills, teaching children about the presence of music everywhere in the world, and, of course, to have fun.
