Blackout Poetry is when you take a written piece of text from a book, newspaper, or magazine and redact words, in order to come up with your very own poetry.

Re-purposing old unused newspapers, books, markers or paint, and an open mind, students will learn to love playing with language, word choice, imagery, mood, form, self-expression, and theme as they create blackout poetry.
